Just as a first hand experience... I once worked at this company my self, and the process of getting a job with them is not as easy as one would describe, there are multiple screenings including a background and drug test that a person being employed by comfort keepers will have to go through. On top of this continued training for the caregivers is always encouraged and they will go as far to help pay for classes to excel and grow. People have to understand that one employees actions does not represent the whole company, they are individuals that make their own choices and in return will suffer the consequences. I can whole heartily say this is one of the few companies that worked for that actually had ethics instead of a strict profit motive.
They work with you when you have special circumstances. My mom does not live at home but in a nursing home. She is totally disabled but receives visits from a Comfort Keepers caregiver who provides friendship and visitation by working with her on her crafts and playing card games. These are her favorite hobbies and it has helped me to relax on those days I am unable to be there for her. I can depend on a caregiver to be with my mom when I cannot. If Mama is happy, the family is happy, and with Comfort Keepers, Mama is happy.
Comfort Keepers provides quality caregivers in a professional manner. I have gained a lot of peace of mind - they have been with my family for a couple of years, taking care of my elderly parents, helping us through the death of my father and now caring for my mother. Our caregiver has been able to explain to me a number of things about elderly people in terms of what is normal and what to expect.
I definitely would recommend Comfort Keepers. There is a lot of emotion in the decisions around providing care to someone who can no longer do everything for themselves. As a nurse, I would love to be able to be the one caring for my mother. However, as a practical matter, it's just not possible. Comfort Keepers supplies our caregivers for a few hours each day, she is happy and well cared for, and I can do what I need to do. They keep their promise to provide excellent, compassionate care.
