About Courtland

Courtland is an incorporated town in the state of Virginia. It is located in Southampton County. In 2010, there was a population of 1,284 people living in the area. It was formed in 1791 and given the name Jerusalem by English colonists. It was became known as Courtland in 1888. There are a few places here that are on the National Register of Historic Places, such as Elm Grove, Rebecca Vaughn House, Simmons-Sebrell-Camp House, Mahone’s Tavern, and Rochelle-Prince House.
