The origin of Folcroft can trace back to the mid-1600s and early settlements of New Sweden. The first road in Folcroft was only 4 feet wide and was a Lenni Lenape trail named "Turkey's Neck Trail" by the settlers. Folcroft was initially known for being productive farmlands but later became a residential suburb of Philadelphia with the construction of the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1874. A passenger stop was built and named Folcroft, or "leafy fields" for residents of Folcroft to have access to transportation to the city of Philadelphia.
Folcroft was initially part of Darby Township and later was separated and stood on its own and incorporated as a borough of Delaware County in 1922.
A branch of the Delaware County Courthouse makes its home in Folcroft, and Folcroft Station is a stop on the Wilmington/Newark Line of the SEPTA Regional Rail commuter railroad system.
Things to do in Folcroft
At Comfort Keepers, we believe that having an interactive caregiver is key to having a happy, healthy, and active life as one grows older. It is important that your loved one is still able to interact with the world surrounding them and to continue to be involved in their community. Comfort Keepers believes in doing this by having an interactive care plan that allows your loved one to go out into their community with the company of an interactive caregiver. To give you a glimpse of what your loved one can do here are some fun things in Folcroft that can be done with the help of an interactive caregiver:
- Take a walk through the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum to view the sanctuary of diverse plant life and wildlife

Diane D. Reviews Comfort Keepers
"The caregivers who watched Mom were caring and considerate. During the visits it was not necessary for them to do any home tasks as I was here full time. They did a good job in keeping Mom company while I was out."
