About Our In-Home Health Care Services & Agency
Trusted in Homes Throughout Springfield PA and communities in Montgomery, Chester, Philadelphia, and Delaware County, PA
After being a caregiver for both his mother and father-in-law, Clark Bongaardt, and his wife, Sallie saw a significant need for quality home health care services in Delaware County and Montgomery County, PA.
While they may have a wealth of knowledge today, this wasn’t always the case for Clark and Sallie. When first navigating the world of senior health care, they didn’t know where to go, what to ask, how to solve their loved one’s ongoing health issues, or who they could turn to when they needed help. After experiencing the industry and its problems firsthand, they decided to start their Comfort Keepers® journey.
Since the Springfield office opened in 2002, Clark and Sallie have been on site every day using their experience in the industry to answer questions, provide senior care solutions, and act as senior care consultants in Audubon, East Norriton, Fort Washington, and towns in Montgomery, Chester, and Delaware County, PA.
Changing The Way We Look At In-Home Care
The Bongaardts were acutely aware of the lack of oversight, communication, and customer service in the senior care industry when they started Comfort Keepers®. Over the years they have used their own experience to improve the industry standards and enhance the customer’s experience.
To address the lack of oversight, the Bongaardts committed to having quality assurance visits and a Registered Nurse on staff to supervise the caregivers. Having personally experienced caregivers who lacked training or supervision, the Bongaardts have invested in the materials and staff needed to have hands-on training at the Comfort Keepers®' office. These investments are to make sure caregivers are safely transferring our clients and providing quality home health care services.
In addition to the quality assurance visits, and hands-on training provided, the Bongaardts have added additional administrative staff to perform in-home quality assurance reviews, as well as, hired an outside third party organization Home Care Pulse to survey the clients at random.
Home Care Pulse is a national company that compiles data from all customers and then compares Comfort Keepers® to the benchmarks.
Our Home Care Pulse Awards:
- Home Care Pulse named Comfort Keepers Springfield and King of Prussia Best of Home Care and Employer of Choice in 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. The only home care agency in the area they serve both Provider and Employer of Choice all four years.
- In 2016 Comfort Keepers Springfield/KOP was named Home Care Pulse Leader in Excellence. Only 4.2% of all agencies surveyed nationwide received this prestigious award.
Communication Is Key
When Comfort Keepers® first opened its doors, Clark and Sallie knew that one of the most important areas they would have to cover was communication with clients and their families. They knew that problems could quickly arise without excellent communication, having experienced caregivers who were late to their loved one’s home or never showed up at all, and being unable to contact the agency when this and other issues arose.
Clark and Sallie were determined to have the best communication policies, not only making sure seniors and their families would know when a caregiver will be late or unavailable but by closely monitoring your loved one's health and keeping their family up to date on any changes. Sallie committed to putting together a Care Management Team that would coordinate care for Comfort Keepers® clients. Our caregiver mentors and coordination team contact families regularly to update them on healthcare needs and changes.
Clark Bongaardt described it best when he said “We chose to open a Comfort Keepers® because its mission is to treat every client as a member of our own family.” “Sallie and I were born and raised in this area, we raised our children here that means that this is our community, our family and so we shall treat all our clients as if they were our mother or father.”

Our Philosophy
Interactive Caregiving™ is based on four primary pillars, which Comfort Keepers® employs to care for, engage, and interact with our clients. Interactive Caregiving™ is an important part of our in-home care in Plymouth Meeting and other towns in Montgomery, Chester, or Delaware County, as well as, every day during our hourly senior care at home services in Audubon, Flourtown, or Ridley Park, PA.
- An active senior mind promotes independence, better mental and physical health, happiness, and a longer life.
- A physically active senior maintains strength and independence, lessening or delaying the effects of aging.
- A well-nourished senior is more energetic, both physically and mentally.
- A safe senior lives in an environment that reduces the likelihood of accidents and promotes timely response when illness or accidents occur.
