About Our Office
Comfort Keepers came about in Pittsburgh thanks to Tom Donohue and his wife, Mary, a registered nurse. It was in 2001 when they established the first location in the Steel City. While his father was in the hospital with dementia, Tom grew interested in in-home senior care. They cared for him and realized the need for trusting and compassionate home care. Their mission has been to provide caring and professional elder care services to seniors in need, both physically and mentally. Through their offices’ thorough screening and interview process, they have surrounded themselves with a caring and dedicated staff. Clients have responded with their comments of praise and encouragement for the home health care services they and their families have received.
Each year since the founding of the Pittsburgh office, the Donohues have experienced substantial growth. As the need for additional caregivers grew, Tom and Mary obtained a second territory in 2007, covering Upper St. Clair, Peters Township, North Strabane, McMurray, Finleyville, and other areas of northern Washington and southern Allegheny Counties. All administrative operations continued in the main office in the South Park / Pleasant Hills area. In 2008, Mary assumed management of a new territory with a satellite office based in Monroeville.
This office, too, has experienced a large demand for elder care services in the Penn Hills, Plum, Murrysville, North Huntingdon, and other municipalities in eastern Allegheny and western Westmoreland Counties. To learn more, call (412) 203-5217.
Our Senior Care Mission
Comfort Keepers aims to offer our clients the best standard of living and to do it like they are members of our own families. We aim to respect and regard every client with the kindness and compassion they expect. The personnel who provide our specific brand of in-home elder care are carefully chosen, screened, and taught to deliver professional, caring care. The result is a group of dedicated, trustworthy individuals who put you first.
Our Primary Philosophy
We're pleased to offer Interactive Caregiving, a unique method whereby we work with clients, not for them. The concept is grounded upon four basic principles:
- Lively and energetic minds foster self-sufficiency and increase overall mental and physical stimulation.
- An actively involved senior is more robust and more independent while slowing aging.
- Seniors who eat regular, nutritious meals will be healthier in mind and body.
- Safe homes decrease mishaps and ensure faster reactions when illnesses or accidents happen.
It's easy to see how Interactive Caregiving raises the standard of living for seniors compared to other in-home elder care services providers. Contact us in Pittsburgh to learn more: (412) 203-5217.
