Warrington In-home Care Services

Warrington exists as a township and suburb on the outside of Philadelphia and serves as the gateway to Bucks County. Spanning about 14 square miles, the township encompasses several villages and towns. As of the 2010 census, Warrington’s sprawling township had a total population of 21,418. Of that total, 4.7% are over the age of 65, making it home to over one thousand seniors.

Warrington lies just far enough outside of the city that it serves as a sort of reprieve but just close enough that Philadelphia also proves accessible by several forms of transportation. The city is less than an hour long drive by car, but often faster and more convenient via public transportation. Philadelphia can be easily reached by getting on the SEPTA Warminster line at Warminster station.

History

The township of Warrington was founded in the early 18th century. It was named for its English predecessor, Warrington in Cheshire, England. The township originally consisted of four villages, but has since grown. Many of the original structures from this time remain preserved and rich with early American history in Warrington.

After the American Revolution, two brothers named John and Nathan McKinstry built a house at 3263 County Line Road. The three-story home, constructed out of local red stone, became home to the brothers, as well as Nathan’s wife and her father, an American Revolutionary War veteran. The house still stands proudly on County Line Road and has been a home to six generations of the McKinstry family.
