WALK TO END ALZHEIMER’S®

Comfort Keepers Raises Awareness and Funds as a National Team and in their local chapter.

Wilmington, NC – September 23, 2024 – Comfort Keepers® is excited to announce its participation in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s®, the world’s largest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. This year, Comfort Keepers’ nationwide teams are proudly recognized as a Silver Level National Walking Team, aiming to collectively raise $100,000 for local chapters across the country.

In Wilmington, NC, Comfort Keepers will host a special fundraiser on Sunday, October 13th, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the picturesque Beau Rivage Golf and Resort. The event will feature a Pickleball Tournament, welcoming players of all skill levels to join in the fun while supporting a vital cause. The entry fee is $25 per person, and the event will include a 50/50 raffle, prizes, awards, and more! All proceeds will go directly to the Alzheimer’s Association to support their mission.

“Comfort Keepers is proud to support the Alzheimer’s Association by participating in this year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s,” said Alyssa Kelly, Owner of Comfort Keepers of Wilmington. “The Association provides essential care and benefits to those affected by Alzheimer’s, from in-person support to online education. Their work makes a profound difference in the lives of individuals and families facing this challenging disease.”

With 30% of the seniors served by Comfort Keepers experiencing various forms of dementia or Alzheimer’s, the organization is deeply invested in combating the impact of this condition. Notably, deaths from Alzheimer’s and dementia have risen by 16% during the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting the increasing need for support. Over 11 million family members and friends are caregivers for those with Alzheimer’s and other dementias, underscoring the importance of community-driven initiatives like Comfort Keepers’ fundraiser.
