Matching Caregivers with seniors for the best in-home care experience
Lasting, meaningful relationships between Caregivers and their clients does not happen by accident. There is a deliberate, rigorous process at work to help ensure the match between Caregivers and clients is a good fit. The following 5 steps are just a few of the ways this process plays out:
- Getting to know one another: Comfort Keepers spends important time upfront getting to know all aspects of potential clients (see: The Importance of an In-Home Care Assessment). Similarly, through a robust interview process and regular communication during employment, we get to know our Caregivers extremely well. This helps ensure compatibility.
- Skills and background: There are over 50 points of criteria available for each Caregiver, documenting skills, background, experience, and interests. This can be a starting point to ensure alignment with client needs and care skills.
- Training: Some Caregivers come to Comfort Keepers with deep experience and advanced certifications, and others are exploring Caregiving as a career for the first time. No matter the experience, our Caregivers are hungry to learn and grow, and make ongoing training a part of their commitment to broaden their skillset and provide the right level of care for each client.
- Diversity: We appreciate that we have a such a diverse team of Caregivers, reflecting different backgrounds, cultures, ages, interests, and skill sets.
- Caregiving is a calling: At their core, our Caregivers are passionate about what they do. It is part of their DNA to lead with empathy, compassion, and trust. Some Caregivers are also passionate about working with seniors requiring a specific type of care, such as hospice care, dementia care, diabetes management, or companionship.
