How Long Can Humans Live and What Is the Perfect Age?
A One-Hour Educational Webinar with
S. Jay Olshansky, Ph.D.
Professor, School of Public Health, University of Illinois at Chicago
Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at 12pm CST
Join us for a webinar in which Dr. Olshansky will discuss the state of aging today and what the future might bring. Research suggests that most people over age 60 are living on "manufactured time" – survival time created by medical technology. As life expectancy rises, the ability of medical technology to manufacture additional survival time wanes as biological aging becomes the dominant risk factor. Dr. Olshansky will address the latest scientific innovations in aging that can help us break through the glass longevity ceiling and manufacture more healthy life in the future.
Expect to learn how the concept of a “perfect age” shifts in response to medical advances that enable some people to keep mind and body intact for many decades. Dr. Olshansky will discuss some of the controls we have over this process, and relate them to topical debates about cognitive functioning in older adults – including our political candidates.
Admission is free and open to all. CEs are available at no cost to attendees. Certified by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
