Chicago: North Park
The North Park neighborhood on Chicago’s Northwest Side is a tree-shaded community of bungalows and two-flats. Bounded by Cicero Avenue on the West, Devon Avenue on the north, the North Shore Channel on the east, and the Chicago River’s North Branch on the south, the area was founded in 1855 as a part of Jefferson Township. North Park’s earliest residents were German and Swedish farmers. Czech immigrants joined the area’s ethnic mix after the founding of Bohemian National Cemetery in 1877. In the early decades of the 20th century, a building boom transformed North Park into a desirable residential community for families. Many residents work at Northeastern Illinois University, Swedish Covenant Hospital or North Park University – all of which have contributed to the community’s strength and lasting appeal. Comfort Keepers is proud to serve seniors and families in the North Park neighborhood and has being doing so since 2000.
