Our Story
The company Comfort Keepers was founded in 1998 by trained home nurse Kris Butler. Kris often took care of individuals who needed more than just medical care. She saw that her clients frequently placed a high value on companionship and asked for modest favors to enhance their quality of life. Because of her position, Kris was unable to grant their simple requests, such as doing the laundry, offering to assist with transportation, or simply spending time working on a puzzle.
Kris noticed the emotional problems experienced by senior patients and saw a chance to assist. She was prepared to offer a solution, but the first thing to do was choose a name. To come up with a word that encapsulated the spirit and sentiment of their upcoming business, she brainstormed with her husband Jerry and their young children. In the end, their daughter came up with the name "Comfort Keepers" based on the objective of the business, which is to keep clients in their homes pleasantly as an affordable alternative to nursing institutions. And so Comfort Keepers was established.
With Kris' knowledge and enthusiasm, the company has grown from an American dream to 700+ outlets worldwide.
Today, Comfort Keepers is accessible in 12 nations through independently run and owned facilities that improve the lives of elderly and disabled persons in their locality.
Despite Comfort Keepers' size, we remain as dedicated to quality now as we were when Kris founded the company more than 20 years ago.
