About Our Pittsburgh Senior Care

In 2001, Tom Donohue, a Certified Senior Advisor, and Mary “Mame” Donohue, RN, founded the Pittsburgh Comfort Keepers® office. They and their team have been providing quality in-home elder care ever since. They were inspired to open the office through a personal experience with home care. When Tom’s father was diagnosed with dementia, they provided in-home care for him.

This experience has helped them build a special culture of adult in-home care service that promotes the well-being of senior clients while providing the understanding support and confidence that families need to assure the well-being of their senior loved ones.

Tom and Mame Donohue
Tom and Mame provide overall direction to this franchise location and its operations. They assure that all franchise services stay true to the Comfort Keepers brand of in-home senior care that actively engages seniors.  Mame also functions as the Pittsburgh East Office Manager. She relies on her thirty (30) plus years of  nursing skills when interacting with clients and their families to assist in structuring the most helpful plan of care.
 

DeBorah M. Madden, CSA, Human Resource Manager, Office Manager
Debbie joined the CK administrative staff in 2006 and earned her Certified Senior Advisor certification in 2007.  Debbie has made hiring with integrity and monitoring caregiver performance a priority.  Recognizing that caregivers are Comfort Keepers’ greatest asset, the retention of valued employees has been an attainable goal. 

 
 

 

 Jacqueline Greenwald, Lead Marketer and Community Liaison, Southwest Area
Jackie is the most senior member of the administrative staff and brings a wealth of knowledge and resources for clients and their families.  Jackie sets the highest standards for delivery of care and her follow-up with her clients is remarkable.

 


 

Ruth “Tootie” Dischner, Certified Senior Advisor, Community Liaison,  Southeast Area
Tootie’s insight and previous business experience have complemented her current position as a community liaison.  She recognizes the importance of being an active listener and patiently guides clients through the process of setting up in-home care.  Tootie has distinguished Comfort Keepers as a premier provider of in-home care for seniors. 

 

Ramona “Ro” Dunlap, Scheduling Coordinator
Ro has been a member of the administrative team since 2006.  The time she has taken to get to know the caregivers and match them with clients is without question the cornerstone of her scheduling success. This process of relationship building and her intrinsic motivation to exceed expectations has won her respect by all.

 

Mary “Trudy” Bretz, RN, Personal Care Skills Trainer
Trudy‘s wealth of knowledge as an RN and her talent to teach has provided incoming caregivers with a wonderful foundation upon which to build their skills as a companion, homemaker and personal care aide. Additionally, Trudy’s quick wit and persistence to have trainees demonstrate skills have brought integrity to the quality of service provided by Comfort Keepers.


 

Amie Bradley, RN, Personal Care Skills Trainer
Amie facilitates Personal Care Skills training in the Monroeville office.  As a “Cameo of Caring” Award winner, she brings an array of experience as an orthopedic nurse at a nearby hospital. Amie’s skills have truly enhanced the training program required for all newly hired caregivers.



 

Karen Meszaros, Programs Coordinator
Having been the Director of Community Relations of a senior living facility in the Pittsburgh area, Karen is a natural in managing a myriad of programs for Comfort Keepers.  Her attention to detail and empathetic nature have complemented the many assignments she has managed since joining the administrative staff in May 2010.

 


 

Michele Harvey, Administrative Assistant
Michele is the voice of CK Pittsburgh South & East managing incoming calls and assisting with the flow of communication in the office.  She also acts as support for the administrative staff helping them achieve their goals. Her even temper, intrinsic motivation and tireless efforts are an asset to the office staff.


 
 

Charlene Romano, Personnel Coordinator
Charlene has had a long history with Comfort Keepers, initially employing CK to care for her father followed by joining the staff as a caregiver.  Currently, Charlene is part of the HR staff and coordinates pay roll for the caregivers.  Additionally, Char visits clients periodically to assure that their expectations are being met and services are being provided according to each client's plan of care.

 


 

Virginia Spratt,  Scheduler
Ginny began her career with Comfort Keepers as a caregiver in 2008. In January 2011, Ginny joined the CK office staff as a scheduler.  Her years in the field have been a wonderful foundation for the daunting task inherent in building and managing our master schedule as well as relating to the expectations placed on our caregivers.
